Attendance at school is really important. Children with good attendance make good progress and maintain positive relationships with their friends and peers. We only authorise sickness and absence due to unavoidable or extenuating circumstances.

At the end of each school term we report home to parents their child’s attendance and RAG rate it:

Green: No concern if your child’s attendance is above 95%.

Amber: If a pupil’s attendance falls below 95%, theses pupils will be monitored. No additional holidays should be considered and attempts should be made by parents to ensure these figures do not drop further and return to a positive figure (above 95%) as soon as possible.

Red: Pupils whose attendance is below 90% are classed as persistent absentees. If your child’s attendance is below 90% you will be sent a letter inviting you to come into school to discuss the reasons why your child/children have been absent from school and agree ways of improving this figure.
