School Council

Hawkshead School Council

Hawkshead School Council is a democratic one!   Each year group votes on its councillor at the start of the year.  At the beginning of this year we had a ‘hustings’ for the position of President and the whole school got involved.

We help to organise charity events –we helped to run fund raising events such as: Children in Need, Red Nose Days and World Book days and Open days for Parents.

During the year we take suggestions from our class about improvements to school – they can either talk to us directly or put a suggestion into our school council box if they prefer.  So far, we have managed to get the toilets re-painted, an equipment bag for playtime and the playground re-painted.  We are working on getting the key stage 2 taps improved and new football nets at the moment!

We know that our ideas are properly listened to – even if not all of them are possible!

School Council 2016

We have now elected our School Council.  Welcome on board to all our new members.

We successfully organised a coffee morning as part of MacMillan Cancer Support – asking members of the local community to donate cakes and biscuits.  Everyone was incredibly generous and the morning was relaxed and cheerful.  We raised over £260 for this super charity.

Our next plan is to do a Sponsored event in late Spring – maybe a tree trail expedition around Wray Castle.  Plans are afoot and the school council will be asking their classes what they think.

Otherwise, we continue to make sure pupils are heard and that school is successful and happy for everyone.

Well Done!
